In October 2024, a simple ChatGPT prompt for an image of bike industry professionals revealed a glaring truth: all men. Yet, when asked for cyclists, men and women were equally represented. This contrast sparked a determination to address gender equity in the industry.

I listened and learned from many female industry veterans that they were tired of women talking about changing the industry. They wanted to see collective action. I admit, I was also tired of the blah blah - I wanted equal opportunity and equal representation in leadership. Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) embraced the idea of leading action by amplifying the Women in Cycling Network and forming a dedicated expert group. Through my new business, I felt I could provide a platform for the industry to starting working through this issue.

So, I created the Summit Series with input from many women across the sector…

The Summit Series Event marks the first of many events to unite the industry in building tools and data-driven initiatives to foster inclusivity. This event starts with gender equity and representation, however, I recognize that true inclusion is a journey with many stages. I hope that this first first pedal stroke will get us the momentum needed to keep the wheels turning on this industry transformation.
